Laurie Ann Persh

CLINICAL SUPERVISOR AND CONSULTANT

M.ED., LPC, MFT, DC, MD, and VA

Laurie graduated from Lehigh University with a Masters in Community Counseling, but also studied beyond that for post graduate studies in family therapy, psychology, trauma and multicultural counseling.  She is recent President of the DC Mental Health Counselors Association and also been a past board member of the Maryland organization for counselors; when she worked with them to get licensure established in Maryland.  More recently, she has worked in several inter-agency task forces to help facilitate establishment of processes for counselors to work across state lines.

Laurie has worked in a variety of settings for over 40 years across a continuum of care. She is board certified in clinical mental health, a board approved supervisor; and is bilingual in English and Spanish. She is an experienced clinician, critical incident responder and trainer.

Here are some of her own words: “I have always been interested in learning about people from all backgrounds and cultures, and that continues through my love of travel.  After receiving my Bachelor’s degree in Education and Spanish, I enjoyed teaching English as a Second Language to people from all over the world before going to graduate school to study Counseling. Much of my work and interest has focused on moving beyond trauma and loss, which we all experience, whether large or small, women’s and relationship issues, and cross-cultural understanding. I have provided supervision and consultation to graduate students, emerging clinicians, and professional colleagues. It is a great joy to me at this stage of my professional career to give back to the profession and keep it going in this way. My style is one of collaboration and partnership.”
